2010

Building on the success of the 2009 festival,  Most Mira engaged with another school, Trnopolje as well as receiving help from the Prijedor Scouts and DON Demokratija Organizovanje Napredak (Democracy Empowerment Progress) an NGO encouraging volunteering amongst youth, based in Prijedor. Their young volunteers acted as translators and co-facilitators in workshops.

Most Mira held its second festival on 26th to 30th April 2010. A total of 412 Bosniak (Muslim), Croat and Serb children and young people, most of whom are educated in segregated schools, participated in four days of joint workshops in art, circus skills, dance and breakdancing, drama, music and photo-journalism. On the final Festival day they put on a performance for parents and local residents. This event was set up and organised by 93 volunteers from 16 countries, including 22 young volunteers from the local Ljubija youth group and another local organization, Demokratija Organizovanje Napredak (DON).

This project was made possible by our funders, including the continued support of ArcelorMittal and Sir Halley Stewart Trust as well as many enterprising individual sponsors.

From the evaluation data gathered it is clear that the workshops and Festival were overwhelmingly successful, for children, schools and youth groups, volunteers and the community. Most Mira and partners have been able to consolidate the success of the first year, by putting into practice lessons learnt and sustaining the momentum generated.
